Casa Emanuel - An orphanage in Guinea-Bissau.

In Guinea-Bissau, if the mother dies in childbirth or if the child is a twin, they are considered a curse and thrown out to die, or killed by the mother's family. At Casa Emmanuel, we visit the garbage dumps and ant hills looking for abandoned babies. Also the villagers have now started bringing these babies to us. Every little life that is rescued is precious to us. Director - Isabel Mora

Exodus House - An orphanage in Benin.

We started Exodus House in December of 2004. We were expecting to house 15 girls. On opening day people began to bring in orphaned children. Grandmothers who could no longer feed their grandchildren. Neighbors who were feeding a child on the street. They came from all over. By the end of the week we had 32 children in a home ready for only 15. Now we are trying to find larger accommodations to care for the children. We are bursting at the seams and are sad that many more could not be taken in. All the floor space for sleeping on mats is taken. We feed any child who comes to our door. Director - Pulcherie Ologoudou
